PHASE: 5 - Evolution
PILLAR: Self-Discovery
PERFECT FOR: Anyone who's been told to just be grateful for what they have, instead of also being allowed to want more.
Gratitude for what you have and hunger for what's next aren't in conflict. They can both be true at once.
Aspirations are the forward-reaching vision of what you want to build and become next; the specific, honest content of what you're actually reaching for.
Somewhere along the way, wanting more got tangled up with being ungrateful. But those are two entirely different things. You can be genuinely, deeply grateful for your life and still want to grow it further. Aspiration isn't dissatisfaction; it's evidence you haven't stopped growing. The discomfort of wanting more isn't a character flaw to suppress. It's momentum, asking to be pointed somewhere.
The goal isn't to want less. It's to get honest about what you actually want, instead of shrinking it to seem more palatable.
In practice, honouring your aspirations looks like:
Naming what you genuinely want, without immediately shrinking it to seem reasonable. Separating aspiration from comparison: wanting what's actually yours, not someone else's life. Revisiting and updating your aspirations as you grow, rather than treating them as fixed. Taking them seriously instead of dismissing them as unrealistic before you've even tried.
TL;DR: You're allowed to be grateful and still hungry for more. Both are true at the same time.
An Affirmation For You.
Wanting more isn't ungrateful. It's how I know I'm still growing.
